The stool stands as a mirror image of itself; one side reflected in the other. Therefore the name Mirā, the Japanese word for mirror.

Mirā is made from old chairs and the starting point was two whole veneer shells; the back pieces were converted into legs and the seats were made smaller and re-established as new seating pieces. The construction appears light and symmetrical, only held together by dowels and the small arc that passes through the structure.
